In an MSNBC article, The French Parliament has recently created a new bill that will make it illegal to promote "extreme thinness."
The proposed law comes after the death of several models in the last few years, with links to anorexia. If the bill is passed, France will be taking after Spain in banning overly thin models from working.
If you are guilty of breaking this law, you can be imprisoned or fined up to $47,000.
I think that this is certainly a step in the right direction, particularly in France where the thinness of models does not even compare to the thinness of models in the United States. However, how are they going to measure "extreme thinness?"
