"When are you going to settle down? So, do you have a boyfriend yet? Have you found a nice boy yet?" etc etc. I think their motivation is probably that they want their daughters to be taken care of. I think there's some stigma to being alone, particularly for our parent's generation. Very unfair, in my opinion!<br /><br />Also, I think there are a lot of other people who may feel a bit of a push to get married because all their friends are going down that path. Maybe pressure isn't the right word, but a 'push.' Ya know, <br />"all my friends are settling down. Maybe it's the right time for me too?"Veronicahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04814975398412587281noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7218145988329019587.post-20482078065056029872009-05-11T07:38:00.000-07:002009-05-11T07:38:00.000-07:00Hopefully people are getting married because they ...Hopefully people are getting married because they want to, not because their parents (or anyone else) are pressuring them to! It would seem odd for parents to pressure their kids to get married. What would be their motivation? Same with the grand kids thing. It would be tough to have a kid when you're just not quite ready...Marleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07012816756911235845noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7218145988329019587.post-86003760837709493482009-05-10T05:32:00.000-07:002009-05-10T05:32:00.000-07:00Ok, so pretty obvious......NO! My mom's main concern right now is "when are you gonna get a boyfriend?" haha.....and my dad would have a heart attack too if I ever got married anytime soon for the single reason that he'd have to chip in for the wedding. Haha. Love it. Love you :)Katienoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7218145988329019587.post-88297973541990958132009-05-08T15:38:00.000-07:002009-05-08T15:38:00.000-07:00Ha! So, uh, I've got the opposite of that pressure (although I do get the occasional "If you never put yourself out there, you're never going to meet guy," which is as close as my mom ever gets).Kelly Annehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15321647777382807266noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7218145988329019587.post-88246870646002037582009-05-08T11:18:00.000-07:002009-05-08T11:18:00.000-07:00LOL!
